For children who are ready, our academy blends learning and enrichment right into the day, so growth and education move together instead of competing for time.

Our Academy offers a wide range of academic services through both 1:1 instruction and small group learning, with instruction and support tailored to each learner's current skills, goals, and readiness. Academy hours, instructional format, and services are flexible, ensuring every child receives the level of support they need to grow, build confidence, and succeed. We are excited to partner with your family and look forward to supporting your child as they learn, grow, and celebrate new successes throughout their Academy journey!

Getting Started with the Academy at BloomKidz

Every child enters the Academy at a different point in their learning journey. Decisions regarding participation in individualized instruction or small group learning are made collaboratively by the child's parents, Academy Lead Teacher, BCBA, and interdisciplinary team to ensure services are appropriate for the child's unique strengths and needs. Academy services are available at our Main, South, and Central locations. Services are provided at the location (whether that is Main, South, or Central) that best supports each child's academic goals, clinical needs, and overall program, ensuring we meet every learner where they are at.

Readiness is based on a variety of factors, including your child's ability to:

  • Attend to instruction for short periods of time

  • Follow simple directions

  • Transition to and from academic activities

  • Participate in structured learning with appropriate supports

Children are not expected to have mastered these skills independently. Academy instruction is designed to meet learners where they are at, with individualized supports to promote success. As readiness skills develop, the team, including parents, will work together to determine when a child is ready for increased instructional intensity or participation in small group learning experiences.

Individualized Instruction - Academy 1:1

Individualized Instruction consists of one-on-one academic services between a client and an Academy Instructor. The recommended amount of instruction is determined collaboratively by the client’s parents, the Academy Lead Teacher, and the client's BCBA based on the child's individual needs and goals. Individualized sessions will focus on reading, writing, or mathematics, depending on the child's academic needs and goals. Instruction is delivered at the child's current skill level and follows a mastery-based approach, allowing each learner to build foundational skills, gain confidence, and progress at their own pace.

In front of him on the table, there is a small figurine of a turtle. The background features a white shelving unit with woven baskets, a potted plant with orange flowers, a wall hanging of a wreath, and various decorative items.

Small Group Learning

The Academy offers four levels of small group instruction - Foundations, Primary, Intermediate, and Advanced - to ensure each learner receives instruction that is both appropriate and engaging. Learners are placed into groups with peers at similar academic skill levels, allowing for meaningful instruction and collaboration. Small group lessons focus on developing reading and math skills while integrating science and social studies concepts through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Instruction is differentiated to meet the needs of each group, providing opportunities for academic growth, communication, collaboration, and confidence-building in a supportive learning environment.

Foundations

Building the foundational skills needed for learning. Focuses on learning readiness, attending, participation, early communication, and beginning math and reading concepts with substantial support.

Primary

Developing core academic skills with increasing confidence. Learners practice foundational reading, writing, and math skills while building independence, accuracy, and stamina through guided instruction.

Intermediate

Applying skills independently across a variety of tasks. Emphasizes fluency, problem-solving, generalization, and completing academic work with reduced support.

Advanced

Extending skills to more complex learning and real-world application. Learners demonstrate independence while tackling higher-level academics, critical thinking, and functional applications that prepare them for continued educational success.

What Makes Academy Different

In traditional public school or standard Special Education (SPED) settings, families are often forced to choose between academic classroom hours and essential clinical therapy visits. The Academy bridges that gap by blending individualized education directly with full clinical support under one roof.

Key Differences Families Experience at BloomKidz:

  • Real-Time Clinical Integration: In public schools, pull-out therapies are often brief and isolated. At the Academy, our Lead Teachers work side-by-side every day with on-site BCBAs, Speech Pathologists, Physical Therapists, and Occupational Therapists. Sensory breaks, speech devices, and behavioral accommodations are woven right into reading and math lessons in real time.

  • No Pulling Out of School for Therapy: Rather than leaving school early or stitching together appointments across town, your child receives both academic instruction and therapeutic care during their center day—so growth and education move together instead of competing for time.

  • Mastery-Based Learning Over Fixed Grade Tracks: Public school curricula are tied to rigid grade-level expectations and calendar timelines. The Academy meets your child where they are, utilizing mastery-based 1:1 instruction and peer-matched small groups so they build confidence and progress at their natural pace.

  • Small-Group & 1:1 Ratios in a Low-Stimulation Environment: Traditional SPED classrooms can still feel large, noisy, and overwhelming for children with sensory sensitivities. Our campus offers calm, contained learning spaces staffed with low student-to-educator ratios tailored to your child’s nervous system.
