Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Funds (ESA)

The Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) gives eligible families state education funds to customize their child's education. ESA funding allows parents to choose educational options that best meet their child's unique learning needs rather than attending a traditional public school. Families who participate in ESA agree to provide an education that includes core academic subjects such as reading, math, science, social studies, and grammar.

All Arizona students in Kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible to apply for an ESA. Applications are accepted year-round through the Arizona Department of Education.

Who Can Apply?
